Reed Sheppard and his girlfriend, Brailey Dizney, have been dating since they were 16. Sheppard comes from a family well-known for their basketball exploit in Kentucky.
Sheppard, 20, had all kinds of pressure when he enrolled at the University of Kentucky. His parents, Jeff and Stacey Sheppard are basketball legends of the university.
And the 6’3 guard has only elevated his family name in Kentucky. In his freshman year, Reed won the National Association of Basketball Coaches National Freshman of the Year. He ended the season with 12.5 points, 4.5 assists, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals per game.
Reed declared he was entering the 2024 NBA Draft on April 18, 2024. Andrew Stefaniak of Sports Illustrated believes Reed will be the third overall pick. Kel’el Ware, Ja’Kobe Walter, and Devin Carter are a few other talents entering the 2024 NBA Draft.
Does Reed Sheppard Have A Girlfriend? Is The Future NBA Star Dating Someone?
Reed Sheppard hasn’t hid his girlfriend from the world. The young basketball star and his girlfriend, Brailey Dizney, have shared several posts showing appreciation for one another.
Like Reed, Brailey is a University of Kentucky student, having graduated from South Laurel High School in May 2023. At Kentucky, Brailey is part of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Sheppard and Dizney began dating in November 2020. But it was only five months later that the couple became Instagram official.
Reed shared a picture of him and Dizney on April 4, 2021, on Easter. The first slide of that post shows Reed with his parents and his sister, and it is only in the last slide that we see the basketball player with his girlfriend.
Three months later, Reed shared more of a romantic post with Brailey. The two were dressed in red and blue to celebrate the Fourth of July. On September 12, 2021, Reed shared a carousel of pictures of him and Brailey to wish her on her birthday.
He cheekily wrote, “Happy birthday, best friend!!!” though it was already clear they were more than that. Brailey went public with her relationship with Reed in December of that year.
She shared a picture of them having fun poolside, and since then, she hasn’t stopped sharing photographs of them being lovey-dovey.
The couple celebrated Easter 2022 with each other like the previous year, making it clear that their families approved of their relationship.
In August, the young couple took a trip to Anna Marie Island, Florida. Reed shared a gallery of images from their trip, while Brailey shared a collage of her and Reed having a PDA at the beach.
On March 30, 2023, Brailey shared an appreciation post for her boyfriend as he brought down curtains to his high school basketball career.
Dizney wrote, “Watching your dreams come true has been so cool. You’re incredible, no doubt about it. All the hateful words in the world could never discredit your hard work or break your humble spirit.”
She continued, “Reed says may his haters live long to see his success, but I say they need to be punched in the face. You deserve the world.”
The Two Celebrated Their Third Anniversary In November 2023
Brailey was Reed’s prom date, and the two looked cute as they shared photos from the memorable night on their social media handles.
Brailey wore a red gown to the senior prom night, and Reed completed her dress with a red bow. A few weeks after their prom, the two attended Taylor Swift’s Era tour concert. Brailey even wore an “I love T.S.” tee.
Earlier this year, in May, the young couple decided to do more of an old couple thing as they attended the Churchill Downs- Kentucky Derby.
Brailey wore the traditional derby hat—embellished with flowers. She wore a cute yellow dress, while Reed wore an attention-grabbing blue suit.
Who Are Reed Sheppard Parents? Get To Know His Sister
Reed Sheppard’s parents, Jeff Sheppard and Stacey Reed are the University of Kentucky’s basketball legends. Stacey was two batches senior to Jeff when he arrived in Kentucky from Georgia.
In their love story, Stacey made the first move. She even told her friends that someday she would marry that boy. The two met each other at the university’s study hall and in the training room, where they would play pickup ball games.
During the initial stages of their romance, Jeff would hesitate to go out with Stacey. Speaking to Lexington Herald-Leader, Stacey said whenever she would ask him to go on a fishing trip with her, Jeff would reply with a stern NO.
Only after a while, Jeff started noticing that Stacey treated him differently than others. Maybe our main guy was too focused on his basketball career.
In his four years at Kentucky, Jeff played 134 games, averaging 8.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 2.4 rebounds. After going undrafted, the Atlanta Hawks signed Jeff as a free agent.
He played one season with the Hawks and retired as a basketball player after a few years in Italy. After retiring from the sport, Jeff chose a corporate career path and became a financial advisor.
Stacey Reed, A Household Name In Kentucky
Reed’s mom, Stacey Reed, was a star in women’s collegiate basketball during the 90s. Many pundits say that Reed is a spitting image of his mom, a compliment that the young basketball player thinks is pretty cool.
Stacey’s college coach, Sharon Fanning-Otis, knew the star Stacey would become. Sharon had first seen Stacey in grade eight and knew she was a total package.
Sharon’s eye didn’t deceive her. Stacey averaged 13 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in her four years at Kentucky. She earned All-SEC honors three times and sits no.1 in steals per game, no.2 in total assists, and top-10 in points scored to date.
Stacey and Jeff married soon after the latter graduated. Jeff proposed to Stacey at her childhood farm in London. A few months later, the two tied the knot.
Reed’s Sister, Madison Previously Played Basketball
Their first child was their daughter, Madison Sheppard. Like her parents, Madison played basketball at high school and collegiate level.
Madison graduated from North Laurel High School in 2017 and enrolled at Campbellsville, where she played basketball for all four years.
Madison won the Miss Tiger and the Don Bishop Champion of Character awards at Campbellsville University Athletics’ 2022 Awards Night. After graduating with a chemistry degree, Madison worked at Trella Health.
She joined the company as a Business Development Representative in February 2023. 11 months later, Madison received a promotion and started working as the company’s senior business development representative.
But even after receiving the promotion, Madison left the job in April 2024 and has been working at RS Enterprises as a community relationship coordinator.
Last year in November, Madison tied the knot with her longtime partner, Caleb Wigginton. She has shared a few family photographs on her Instagram handle, including an appreciation post for her brother when he won Mr. Kentucky Basketball.
