The Bachelorette Season 21’s Dylan Buckor hails from Elk Grove, California. But his family root stems from the West African nation Ghana.
Having earned his sociology degree last year, Dylan is working towards becoming a future doctor, having sent his application to 27 medical schools. His mother, Tanzaneka Buckor, is a Chief Nurse, and one of his sisters is a registered nurse.

Dylan is one of 25 men hoping to win the heart of The Bachelorette Season 21’s leading lady, Jenn Tran. The franchise’s first Asian American lead has already sent seven men packing home, but fortunately, Dylan wasn’t one of them.
Buckor, 25, has previously participated in another reality TV show. However, it wasn’t in front of TV screens but on a YouTube channel. Like Dylan, Aaron Erb and Devin Strader, are eyeing to be Jenn’s future husband. Erb’s brother, Noah Erb, is part of the Bachelor Nation, having met his fiance in the Bachelor in Paradise show.
Elk Grove’s Finest Dylan Buckor Dreams of Being A Doctor
The Bachelorette Season 21’s contestant, Dylan Buckor, age 25, hails from Elk Grove, California. At 25, Buckor is the youngest contestant of this season.
In his ABC Bio, the future doctor said he might be young, but he knows what he wants and is very serious about finding a wife with whom he can settle down. Buckor graduated from Pleasant Grove High School in 2018 and was on the volleyball team.
Standing at 6’6, Dylan played as a hitter for his team. After graduating from Pleasant Grove, Dylan enrolled at California State University, Fullerton, in hopes of earning a sociology degree. Buckor left Fullerton in 2021 and enrolled in California State University-Sacramento.
On December 2, 2023, Buckor shared a gallery of images from his graduation and wrote a lengthy caption, “Two colleges and almost 5.5 years later, I’ve earned a BA in Sociology! Throughout many ups and downs of my college career, one thing has remained constant— my will to do right by the people I am blessed to call my friends and family.”

Dylan further sang praises for his family and friends, thanking them for teaching him perseverance, compassion, and patience. After earning his sociology degree, Dylan has started preparing for medical school.
In June, he shared a TikTok video listing ten things he’d rather do than re-take MCAT. One of those things included getting locked in a room with Jojo Siwa.
MCAT is the Medical College Admission Test for prospective medical students in the United States, Australia, Canada, and the Caribbean Islands. Students can apply to medical schools only after getting a good score on the MCAT.
In the TikTok video Dylan posted on June 16, he shared his frustration about writing 27 secondaries for the 27 medical schools he had applied to. Currently, the medical student works part-time at Scribe America while working as a Barista at Dutch Bros Coffee.
The Bachelorette Isn’t Dylan’s First Time On Screen
Most people who dare to participate in reality TV shows are undoubtedly much more extroverted than the average person. And Dylan seems no exception.
In fact, Dylan has previously tried finding love on another show. On October 14, 2023, a YouTube channel called Nectar featured Dylan in one of their 10 Women V 1 episodes.
He had also previously featured in the channel’s other video, Personality Vs Appearance. Many viewers of that video loved Dylan and wanted him on the 10 Women V 1 video.
In the video, Dylan works with a professional matchmaker, Simone, to find the right woman for himself. During their introductions, Simone asks Dylan about the quality he is searching for in a woman.
The medical school hopeful says he loves a woman who is confident in her skin and is goal-driven, has a sense of humor, and someone with whom he can have a banter.
Dylan also reveals that he wants to date someone with whom he can see living as a happy family. Buckor shares his dream of becoming a dad, sitting on the sidelines and cheering for his kids at soccer and baseball games.
At the end of the video, the professional matchmaker and Dylan happen to choose a different woman. But going through his social media handles, Dylan might not have ended up in a relationship with both girls, leading him to join The Bachelorette in March 2024.
Dylan’s Family Members Are Part Of The Medical Field
Dylan’s dream of wanting to be a doctor probably stems from seeing his family member’s involvement in the medical field. In the Nectar’s video, Dylan mentions that he is the middle child of his family and has a younger and older sister.
Dylan’s family hails from Ghana, with his mother, Tanzaneka Buckor, previously sharing photos of their family’s trip to their native land. Tanzaneka goes by the name Brown Qtee on Facebook and has shared photographs of Dylan and his sisters.
Like Dylan, Tanzaneka first graduated with a sociology degree and then enrolled at Sacramento City College for a registered nursing course. She then earned her bachelor’s degree as a registered nurse from Capella University and later received her Master’s in Health Care Innovation from Arizona State University.

Tanzaneka previously worked at Sutter Health as a Clinical Manager and later at Common Spirit Health as a Director of Acute Care Services- at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, California. Tanzaneka is currently working at Community Medical Centers as a Chief Nursing Officer in Stockton, California.
One of Dylan’s sisters, Dominique Buckor, is a registered nurse at Mercy General Hospital, having completed her degree from Santa Rosa Junior College. Dylan’s other sister, Jesyka Buckor, graduated from high school in 2022, with the entire Buckor family present at the ceremony.
