The Bachelorette Season 21’s contestant, Austin Ott, is a sales executive from Bakersfield. The Californian man, Ott, is a former collegiate athlete and an academic standout.
During his athletic years at high school and college, Austin balanced his baseball career with a strong academic one. Austin won several accolades as an athlete and student, but alas, he chose to hang up his baseball bat and work in the corporate world.
In the Bachelorette’s premiere episode, Ott shares he wants to be a family man and give his future wife and kids the life they deserve. Austin is religious, but unlike many Christians, who are homophobic and racist, he doesn’t follow the same path as them.
Austin has survived the show’s first week alongside Devin Strader, Dylan Buckor, and Aaron Erb. It will be interesting to watch whether this season’s leading lady, Jenn Tran, chooses the sales executive or between the other three men listed above.
The Bachelorette Contestant, Austin Ott, Is A Former Baseball Player
Austin Ott, age 29, grew up in Bakersfield, California. Today, Austin works at FAIRWAYiq as an Account Executive, but there was a time when Austin had an athletic career.
A California State University San Marcos graduate, Austin was part of their baseball team. He enrolled at California State after graduating from Vista High School in 2014.
At Vista, Austin was a two-time All-Avocado West League selection. He also made it to the two-time All-CIF San Diego Division team and was honored with the Pitcher of the Year title in his senior year.
One of the best prospects of his school, Austin was once crowned Vista Athlete of the Year and was a member of the team that won the league champion, the CIF Championship, and the State Championship in 2012. Since his younger days, Austin has proved that he isn’t only an athletic guy but is also highly focused on academics.
At Vista, Austin made it three times in the All-Academic team. Austin continued playing in his collegiate years and maintained his bookish nature, receiving the academic award, Cougar Award during Fall 2017, Spring 2018, and Fall 2018.
As a Freshman in 2015, Austin started 52 games at second base, finishing the season with a .310 average with 39 runs, 42 RBIs, and 10 walks. He scored two home runs and tallied 15 extra-base hits with 12 doubles, a triple, and two home runs.
In his Sophomore year, Austin appeared in all 48 games, starting 28 at second base, 16 as the designated hitter, and two in the outfield. He tallied 17 multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games.
An Injury Held Austin’s Baseball Career Back
In 2016, after his Sophomore year concluded, Austin suffered from a torn Ulnar Collateral Ligament, putting him out of the 2017 season. After nursing his injury, Austin returned for his redshirt junior year in 2018 and started in 47 games as the primary center fielder.
He bated a team best of .364, ranking seventh in CCAA. He led the CCAA with five triples, recorded a team-high of 67 hits, and was second in RBIs with 34.
In his senior year in 2019, Austin started in 43 games and led the team with 49 RBIs and a .586 slugging percentage. He had eight sacrifice flies while tallying a .358 batting average, 58 hits and 39 runs, and seven home runs.
Despite winning several honors during his collegiate years, Austin decided not to continue his athletic career. After graduating in 2019, Austin began working as an Associate District Manager at ADP.
After a year at ADP, Austin joined Tax Credit Co. as a Business Development Representative and later worked at ACA Group as a Sales Executive. He worked at ACA Group till October 2023 before joining his current workplace, FAIRWAYiQ.
Austin Ott’s Previous Relationship
The Bachelorette’s contestant, Ott, hasn’t shared any photographs with any romantic partner on his social media handle. Austin has mostly shared photographs, spending quality time with family, including his parents and close friends, on his social media handle.
While in high school, Austin shared a couple of photographs from his prom night on his Instagram handle. He had gone to prom with his close friend Keilani.
On one of his photographs with Keilani before the prom night, Austin captioned the post, “Students of the year and Prom dates. We out here.” In another photograph from their prom night, Austin wrote, “She is a dime.”
And this is the last time Austin has shared pictures with a woman on his Instagram. Instead of bragging about his relationships with women, the Bachelorette contestant loves sharing about his relationship with God.
In November 2023, Austin shared a video on his TikTok handle, doing a devotional, and said he had started going through the New Testament again. In his video, Austin talks about Chapter 7, the topic of judging others.
Unlike several Christians, Austin, who comes from a younger generation, has a different outlook toward his religion. He says in the video that he has met many racist, homophobic Christians and is baffled how they still hold these judgments over others even after reading Chapter 7.
He reads a verse from the chapter and concludes his video by telling everyone to show love and empathy and that only the Lord can judge others. In another video, Austin tells his followers that we should maintain a consistent relationship with God and not remember him only in our gloomy days.
Austin also shared that he talks to God every morning and tells him all he is grateful for. He says this has helped him create a balanced relationship with God.
Austin Ott’s Family: The Bachelorette Star Has A Strong Bond With His Mom
Austin is the youngest son of Elizabeth and Corey Ott. The Sales Executive hasn’t shared much about his older brother Corey Jr. on his Instagram handle.
Throughout the years, Austin has dedicated several Instagram posts to his mother, Elizabeth Ott. In 2013, he shared a photo of him and his mom a few days after Mother’s Day. He wrote, “Little late, but Happy Mother’s Day Mom! I know we don’t get along more often than not, but that doesn’t change my love for you! Wouldn’t trade you for anything.”
In 2016, he shared another photograph with his mother, this time of his mom attending one of his baseball games. The mother-son duo also loves hanging out during their free time. In 2017, Austin took his mom to a Sam Hunt concert at North Island Credit Union. They had also previously attended a Blake Shelton concert together.
Recently, in July, Elizabeth shared a gallery of images of her and Austin enjoying their vacation at the San Diego hotel Best Western Plus Island Palms Hotel & Marina.
Austin also has a close bond with his dad, Corey Ott, a baseball coach. He has previously shared several posts with his dad, including a 2018 Christmas picture. The father-son duo also hung out during one of their close relatives/friends, Daniel Vega’s wedding ceremony in 2022.
All and all, Austin seems like a family guy. He cares not only about living a quality life individually but also wants his family to be a part of it. Will he win Jenn’s heart with his sweet nature? Only time will tell.
