Kel’el Ware, the 7-foot-tall center of Indiana Hoosiers, declared for the draft after only two seasons of his collegiate career. The first year didn’t even go as planned, as the five-star high school recruit failed to perform well at Oregon.
But at Indiana, Kel’el found his mojo as he averaged 15.9 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 1.9 blocked shots while having a field goal percentage of 58.6%

One of the hottest prospects of the 2024 NBA Draft, Kel’el Ware’s girlfriend, Nevaeh Koehler, is also a student at Indiana University. The two likely met when Ware transferred to Indiana from Oregon during his sophomore season.
Soon after transferring to Indiana, Kel’el regained his confidence on the basketball court and also happened to meet his current girlfriend. Kel’el’s girlfriend, Nevaeh Koehler, is likely to graduate next year.
Koehler graduated from New Prairie High School in 2020. She enrolled at Indiana University Bloomington and is pursuing a Human Resources Management and Services degree.
As an undergraduate student, Nevaeh is working as a florist at Kroger. Previously, she worked as a cashier at Chipotle for six months and as a human resource intern at American Licorice Company.
Nevaeh is the only daughter of Amanda and Michael Koehler, but she does have a brother. Her dad, Michael Koehler, is an independent contractor at Indiana Transport and works at Sullivan-Palatek Inc.
Michael has previously shared several family pictures on his Facebook handle, including childhood pictures of Nevaeh and her brother. The Koehler family also seem to be huge football fans and loyal supporters of the Green Bay Packers.
Kel’el And Nevaeh’s Relationship
The young couple, Kel’el and Nevaeh, aren’t shy when it comes to showing their love for each other. On April 20, on Kel’el’s birthday, Nevaeh shared a gallery of images of her and Kel’el.
One of the first pictures on the slide was of them sharing a passionate kiss. On the second slide, Nevaeh shared a sweet video of them kissing while waiting to have their photographs taken in a photo booth.
She captioned the post, “Happy birthday to my best friend. The joy and peace you bring to my life is insurmountable. The world is a better place because you exist. I’ll love you forever.”
The two went public with their romance in March, with Kel’el sharing a photo of him and Nevaeh walking down the hall.
Recently, the two were seen on vacation in Malibu, California, with Kel’el sharing several photos of them enjoying their trip. He captioned the post, “Me & You,” and included an emoji of fingers crossed.

Kel’el Ware’s parents are separated, but the basketball talent holds a close bond with his mother, Tamika Smith Spaight. The future NBA player has two brothers and two sisters.
In May 2023, 247Sports interviewed the mother-son duo of Tamika and Kel’el. The interview came right after Kel’el left Oregon and joined Indiana.
During his conversation with 247Sports, Kel’el talked about his adversity while playing in Oregon. Tamika said she didn’t only see her son’s adversity but also felt it.
Ware said he felt added pressure at Oregon after Chris Crutchfield left to take a head coaching job at Omaha. He suddenly lost the man whom he trusted the most while living thousands of miles away from home.
But Ware added that he always knew his mom was in his corner. In the interview, Tamika said, “He had to go through this because when you go through things, it makes you a better person, especially when you get through.
Don’t stop you; you gotta climb over it so that you can go higher and to the next level.”
Previously, in his interview with Prospective Insight, Ware stated he lived with his mom and stepdad. So, there is a chance that Ware isn’t as close to his biological dad.

Since graduating high school last year, Javarus hasn’t committed to any college program, and in September 2023, Javarus shared he had joined Florida Coastal Prep Sports Academy through his X handle.
One of Kel’el’s sisters, Dyamyn Ware, is a student at the University of Memphis and is a braid specialist. She is currently working at a hair salon. She has a separate Instagram handle dedicated to her skill and shared hundreds of posts.
