Lonnie Phelps and his girlfriend Jaylese Burse were together when they met with an accident on June 19, 2024, in Key West, Florida. The former Browns player was charged with both DUI and property damage charges after he crashed his SUV into a local restaurant.
The Miami Herald reported that the footballer’s Hyundai SUV smashed into the Red Shoe Island Bistro. The Daily Mail reported that Phelps and his girlfriend Burse were uncooperative with officers.
Witnesses said that Phelps and Burse exited the vehicle after the crash, and immediately, the couple got into a quarrel. The Miami Herald also reported that Burse appeared intoxicated and refused to speak to an officer.
But she later spoke with investigators but didn’t provide details about what led to the crash. The restaurant Phelps crashed into put out an update video on their Facebook handle.
The Facebook page of Red Shoe Island Bistro wrote, “No one was hurt by the car that drove into our restaurant tonight. Thankfully, we were closed. It could’ve been really bad. Angels were looking out for us all.”
Lonnie and Jaylese haven’t shared anything related to the accident on their social media pages.

The 21-year-old girlfriend of Lonnie Phelps is native to Salina, Kansas. Jaylese hasn’t shared any posts on her Instagram handle that could hint she is dating the footballer.
