Dean Wade’s wife, Kayla Wade, was once a standout collegiate basketball player. The two are graduates of Kansas State University and recently announced that they had welcomed their first child.
Kayla, 27, and Dean, 28, were sophomores at Kansas State University when they first began dating. The teenage love slowly blossomed into true love, and in 2021, Dean asked the big question to Kayla.

Wade was met with a big Yes, and since then, the couple has tied the knot and have become parents. The Cavaliers forward, Dean Wade, joined the team in 2019 but hasn’t been able to make much impact on the side.
Wade is currently sidelined due to a sprained right knee but is reportedly getting closer to a return to face the Boston Celtics in the second round of playoffs.
Meet Dean Wade’s Wife, The Former Basketball Star Kayla Wade
Dean Wade’s wife, Kayla Wade (née Goth), age 27, was born in Madison, Wisconsin. Kayla is the youngest of two children of Herman Goth and Beth Mueller.
But it looks like Kayla’s parents have separated, as Beth shared a photo from her wedding ceremony with another man on her Facebook handle in 2016.
Kayla’s love for basketball began at a young age, and in DeForest High School, many saw that talent reach higher levels. A guard, Kayla accumulated 1,259 points during her high school career.

She averaged 13.6 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.6 blocks per game. At the time, ESPN ranked Kayla at no.57 in her position.
But Kayla excelled not only in basketball but also in volleyball and softball. She also earned a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do in less than five years. The Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association named Kayla to their All-State Second Team in 2014.
So, Kayla was an all-and-all super athlete, earning honors in several sports. In 2015, Kayla enrolled at Kansas State University and earned several honors in the next four years.
Kayla Wade’s (Goth) Basketball Career At Kansas State
In her debut season at Kansas State, Kayla played 30 games but started only in one. She averaged 1.9 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.
Her struggle for game time continued in her second year, as she only made nine starts. But her stats improved, as she registered 5.8 points per game.
But in her junior year, Kayla made it to the 2018 All-Big 12 Second Team and earned career highs in every statistical category.

She became the first player in the program’s history and the eighth among the Big 12 schools to record 500 or more points and 200 or more assists in a season. She played and started in all 34 games, recording 17.4 points per game.
In her senior year, Kayla was nominated for the Nancy Liberman Award and was named to All-Big 12 First Team and Academic All-Big 12 First Team. She played and started all 33 games, earning 12.4 points per game and 6.8 assists per game.
Kayla ended her basketball career at Kansas State with 1,253 career points, ranking 20th in program history and fourth in school history for her 540 assists.
Dean Wade And Kayla Goth’s Relationship
Though they have never spoken about their relationship in media, it is believed that the two basketball players crossed paths for the first time at Kansas State.
The two enrolled at Kansas State in the same year, 2015. After playing for years at Kansas State, if Kayla decided to hang up her basketball shoes, Dean chose to enter the NBA portal.
He went undrafted but later joined the Cleveland Cavaliers. The NBA couple isn’t a social media enthusiast and has shared very few posts on their Instagram handle.
Kayla and Dean began dating in 2016, and on their fourth anniversary in 2020, the center shared an appreciation post for Kayla.

On November 6, 2020, Dean shared a gallery of images of Kayla and captioned the post, “Happy four years to this beautiful person right here!
Thank you for being the most loving and caring person I know and also the best dog mom! Four years down and a lifetime to go!”
Almost a year later after that post, in August 2021, Dean went down on one knee as he proposed to Kayla in an open field. Dean asked for Kayla’s hand in marriage in the same town where they met.
Kayla shared a few images from the proposal and captioned the post, “My first and your last name sound better together.”
The two basketball players exchanged their vows on August 20, 2022. The wedding ceremony happened in Manhattan, Kansas, with their close family and friends attending it.
The couple has shared several images from their wedding day on their Instagram handles.
Kayla wore a laced wedding gown featuring a thin-strapped ensemble and a V-neck front on her special day. Dean kept it simple with a navy blue suit and a white bowtie.

Do Dean And Kayla Have Children?
The couple became parents for the first time earlier this year in March. Kayla and Wade have decided not to reveal their child’s gender.
Though Kayla gave birth in early March, she didn’t share photos from her pregnancy photoshoot and her child’s birth until March 30.

On March 30, 2024, Kayla took to her Instagram handle to share a black-and-white image of her cradling her baby bump.
In another slide, we see Dean cradling Kayla’s baby bump and planting a kiss on her head. At first, the post seems to allude that Kayla is announcing she is pregnant.
But the third and final slide shocked everyone as we saw Dean in the hospital room holding their newborn. The NBA player has yet to share any posts related to his child’s birth on his Instagram handle.
Dean Wade Family: The Center Comes From A Family Filled With Athletes
The Cleveland Cavaliers’ center isn’t the first one from his family to pick up a sport. Before Deam, his dad, Jay Wade, played for Kansas State University.
Not necessarily basketball, and not necessarily as successful as his son, Jay played two games as a defensive back for the Kansas State’s football team.
Dean’s mom, Trish Wade, previously shared in her interview with King James Gospel that Dean promised he would become a professional basketball at age eight.
The Wade family moved to St. John, Kansas when Dean was seven. At first, Dean showed no interest in basketball, but going against his wishes, Trish signed her son to a basketball camp.
In her interview, Trish said, “I always wanted the kids to try things before they decided whether they liked them or not.”

Trish stood correct, and Dean enjoyed his time at the camp. Trish was a standout volleyball and basketball player during her high school days.
She continued playing the two sports at Barton County Community College and was inducted into the College Sports Hall of Fame.
Trish led her volleyball team to 111 victories and was named an All-American in the 1985 season before transferring to Florida Southern in 1987.
At Florida Southern, Trish continued achieving success and made it to the First Team All-Sunshine State Conference team. After retiring as an athlete, Trish became a volleyball coach for the St. John-Hudson girl’s volleyball team.
Trish is available on Instagram with the username @coach_wade24 and has shared several family photos. Her latest post was for her daughter-in-law, Kayla, on her birthday.
Dean Wade’s Sister, Teresa Wade, Is Also A Former Athlete
Dean’s sister, Teresa Rush (née Wade), followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a top volleyball player.
Teresa starred for St. John in high school and was named Class 1A Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012. An outside hitter, in her senior year, Teresa hit .486.
After graduating from St. John, Teresa enrolled at Hutchinson Community College and was named Jayhawk Player of the Year twice.

In 2013, Teresa recorded 482 kills, the third most in the school’s history, and ended her career ranked second all-time with 896 total kills.
After Hutchinson, Teresa joined Fort Hays State University and played one season, recording 123 kills and 199 digs.
Today, Teresa is a fourth-grade teacher at Faris Elementary School. She tied the knot with Nolan Rush, a Kansas State University graduate, with whom she shares one child, a son.
