David Pastrnak is yet to make his girlfriend of five years, Rebecca Rohlsson, his wife. The pair began dating in 2018 and have since become parents to a baby girl.
Pastrnak, 28, born and raised in the Czechia Republic, left his home for Sweden when he was 16 in 2012. But he never crossed paths with his girlfriend in her homeland, and the two might have met for the first time in Boston.
Last year, the Bruins made Pastrnak their highest-earning player with the $90 million contract. The deal also made him the sixth richest currently in the league.
Pastrnak has been with the side since 2014 and rose to stardom in the 2016 season. The winger is yet to win the prestigious Stanley Cup with the side.
In the recently concluded Game 7 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, Pastrnak emerged as a hero as he scored the game-winner at 1:54 of overtime. Goaltender Jeremy Swayman also recorded 30 saves.
The Bruins will now face the Florida Panthers in the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Has David Pastrnak Married His Girlfriend Rebecca Rohlsson?
David Pastrnak is yet to marry his girlfriend, Rebecca Rohlsson. The pair haven’t shared any posts on their Instagram that could allude that they have walked down the aisle.
The Boston Bruins right winger, David Pastrnak, met his girlfriend, Rebecca Rohlsson, in 2018. The hockey player confirmed his relationship with Rebecca with an anniversary post on July 20, 2019.
Pastrnak shared a gallery of images to celebrate their first anniversary. He wrote, “One year with this amazing girl [red-heart emoji]. Love you to the moon and back.”
The posts included pictures of Pastrnak and Rebecca on holidays and several individual photos of his girl. It was the first time David shared anything related to his love life, with the hockey player having never shared much about his personal life on his Instagram handle.
Since then, David has shared only two more posts with his girlfriend. His other post for his partner came two years after his first post, which was in 2021.
The couple looked stunning as they made their red carpet-debut at the Vary Film Festival. The film festival took place in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. The pair were color-coordinated for the event, with David wearing a white suit with black trousers and Rebecca wearing a shimmering white dress.
The hockey couple also seems to have run into American actor Johnny Depp. David shared a photo of his girlfriend posing with Depp in one of the slides. A year later, in 2022, the pair attended the same event, and this time, they were joined by David’s agent, Ales Volek, and Czech hockey player Roman Červenka.
Since then, Rebecca has only been seen in one post, which was in June 2023, after the birth of their first child.
Who Is Rebecca Rohlsson? Get To Know Her
Unlike David, who is a Czech, Rebecca is native to Stockholm, Sweden. Per her LinkedIn page, Rebecca was a former gymnast before she enrolled at KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
Even before enrolling at KTH, Rebecca had already begun working. In 2011, Rebecca worked as a hostess and on the sales team at Svenska Dagbladet, a daily newspaper published in Stockholm, Sweden.
She worked there for six months before joining the sales team at Säljfokus Nordic AB, a recruitment company. In 2012, Rebecca joined People Partner Sweden AB, a staffing and recruitment company, and began working as their event staff manager.
She joined Belle Shoe Company in 2012 and was their store manager for five months. After working there for a year, Rebecca joined Nordiska Kompaniet as a shop assistant.
After having a company titled Bolagsman in 2014, Rebecca hasn’t updated her LinkedIn account. Her Instagram handle is private, and her Facebook account has only two photos, and that too with her partner, David.
Rebecca And David Are Parents To A Baby Girl
On June 9, 2023, David revealed that he and Rebecca had welcomed their daughter, Freya Ivy Pastrnak, to the world.
David shared a sweet image of his baby girl fast asleep in her crib and several other pictures of him and Rebecca with their child. The hockey player captioned the post, “Freya Ivy Pastrnak už je na světě [is already in the world].
We’ve dreamt about this moment for a long time, and I couldn’t be more proud of my two beautiful girls. I can’t wait to watch you be the best mamma to our little nugget.”
The birth of their daughter meant a lot to the couple, who had lost their infant son in 2021. In an Instagram post shared on June 28, 2021, David revealed his and Rebecca’s child, Viggo Rohl Pastrnak, passed away a week after his birth.
Viggo was born on June 17, 2021, and took his final breath on June 23, 2021. David wrote, “We have an Angel watching over us, and we call him SON. You will be loved FOREVER.
Please respect our privacy as we are going through these heartbreaking times.”
Since that Instagram post, David hasn’t talked about the demise of his child in any of his interviews.
Having to let go of your child only a week after his birth is a heartbreaking situation for any parent and is a sensitive topic for David and Rebecca.
David Pastrnak Family: Meet His Parents
David Pastrnak was born to parents Milan Pastrnak and Marcela Pastrnakova. The hockey player is the couple’s youngest child, with David also having an older brother named Jakub Pastrnak.
Growing up, the Bruins’ player was always close to his dad, who played hockey in their homeland, the Czechia Republic. For a decade, Milan was part of SK Karvina, a team in the Czechia 2 league.
A forward, Milan never played any games for the team, as per Elite Prospects statistics. In 1996, Milan joined a Germany-based team, Schwenninger ERC II, for whom he played 16 games in the first year and earned 33 points.
In his second year with the team, David played 54 games and earned 79 points, with 18 goals and 61 assists. After retiring as a player, Milan began coaching hockey in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and England.
It was in 2012 that David left his home to join the Swedish team Södertälje SK. A year later, while living on his own in Sweden, his mom called him to inform his father had passed away.
Milan Pastrnak drew his last breath in 2013 after a five-year-long battle with skin cancer. David returned to the Czech Republic for his father’s funeral but returned to Sweden quickly as he considered the rink his safe space.
He mended his broken heart by spending hours and hours on the ice rink. Hockey was his only coping mechanism. In his interview with The Athletic in 2020, the hockey player called himself a family man and said his mother, Marcela, and older brother, Jakub, meant the world to him.
David Once Told His Mom Not To Visit Him
Marcela Pastrňáková worked three different jobs so that she could buy her son a new hockey stick. In an interview with iSport in 2016, Marcela recalled how David once requested her to send money so he could have enough money to eat.
Marcela said David could secure housing in Sweden but had only a little money. As food was expensive in Sweden, David’s money would vanish after buying one snack.
So, being a mother, Marcela did her best to support her son through the difficult time. During her interview, Marcela shared the roles were now reversed, and Marcela said it was she who would ask her son to send her money.
In 2019, during an interview with NBC Sports, Pastrnak revealed that he had turned down his mother’s offer to nurse him during his thumb injury. When asked why, David said he didn’t want to return to the ice rink weighing 20 pounds heavier.
