The Netflix comedy-drama series Dead Boy Detectives is George’s first major work. The show is set in the same universe as DC Comics’ The Sandman.

Fans of Dead Boy Detectives respect Geroge for not talking about his sexuality and relationships. But more than George’s personal life, several fans want to know whether Edwin and Charles will ever get together.
In episode 7, we see Edwin confessing his feelings for Charles. In their interview with Variety, George said it was a difficult scene to film as they were attached to harnesses and rope.
The actor mentions how his character is smart in every area but fails miserably in emotional communication. In the penultimate episode, Edwin tells Charles, “I love you. As more than a friend, I’m afraid.”
At first, Charles thinks his friend is joking, but after seeing Edwin’s sincere face, he says, “You are the most important person in the world to me.
I can’t really say that I’m in love with you back, but there’s no one else, no one else that I would go to Hell for.”
Charles’ response has been left open for interpretation. Is it a straight “No” or a “Not right now.”
Though there are fans who want to see the two get together in the show, there are also those who don’t mind seeing a non-sexual relationship between a queer and a supposed straight character.
In their interview with TV Guide, Jayden Revri said, “We have forever to figure out what it means. It is the most perfect line he could’ve said.”
Agreeing with his co-star, George added that Edwin certainly would’ve wanted Charles to reciprocate the feeling but believes Charles handled the situation gracefully, and it is still an ‘I love you.’
